If you run a membership business, what’s your tech stack?

Context: I’m currently running a newsletter that introduces people to other websites in their industry that are willing to trade backlinks with them. Kind of like Help A Reporter Out.

Eventually, I’m envisioning this being something like Microacquire where you create an account to submit your site to our database, or an account to browse sites and submit a trade request.

I’m already building out a version that uses Gumroad’s membership feature (free memberships). But this doesn’t feel like a big step forward. Almost a lateral move.

I’m having the dambdest time trying to figure out what kind of tech stack I should be considering for MVPv2.

If you run a membership site, do you have any favorite options?

Current stack:

  • Gumroad to accept memberships and send email updates weekly
  • Notion page as my “homepage” with rules and links to the different industry databases
  • Airtable for submission forms and showcasing the database.

Very amateur style but it kinda works for now?
