Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who is worried about the rapid rise in AI writing tools. Everyone else seems to be adopting it and loving it. We're putting our own species out of work!
Why be worried about something that can automize and improve things, so we have time to focus on other stuff? The industrialization made basically the same or not? I don't see any realistic scenario that we are getting out of work.
I agree. The technophobes are blinded by the narrative that it will create "more opportunities" but they don't seem to have the ability to imagine a dystopian future of mass unemployment. Not everyone has the aptitude, knowledge, circumstances to take advantage of this technology. Probably better to go into the physical trades as those can never be automated.
You're missing the point of the article - it shows how AI is helping people create startups. So, it is bringing more opportunities not making people lose jobs.
At this stage at any rate we can reasonably say that it is a tool that can fuel productivity. Editing and sense-making would still need to be done by us. The human factor is not what AI can provide.

Nicely said! I'm building a startup that focuses on writing but in a more niche market (UX designers).
The hardest thing about AI copy generation is consistency. But I believe this is just the beginning of the disruption.

Great post! Overall, I think that there are so many AI writing apps popping out now that it's become oversaturated.
Nonetheless, the best will thrive, but competition will definitely get stiffer as time passes.
I think more money will go into those providing the AI and backend for those AI writing apps, or apps using AI under the hood.
Most of these AIs are too large or complex to implement directly, so a lot of these apps use APIs from AI providers. OpenAI obviously being a big one.
Problem is, OpenAI is really restrictive with how their AI is used. For example, it's against their TOS to generate NSFW results with GPT-3 (and ChatGPT is much more restrictive).
This is fine for your average joe using the AI, I've rarely heard individuals being banned for getting the AI to generate inappropriate results, but it's definitely a bigger issue if a startup is running GPT-3 under the hood for their app and OpenAI catches them.
I think there's room in the future for more AI providers, just like how despite microsoft dominating the OS market, there still exists linux and other OSs. And I think it'll be like that with OpenAI as well.
FYI, I'm currently working on an AI API service that uses BLOOM (open source GPT-3 alterative, but with much less restrictions) allowing devs to connect to the AI via API much like OpenAI.

100% agree with your take. I think the post title is misleading. The ship has sailed for most micro-startups that focus on "writing" by simply calling GPT-3 in the backend, now that there is a direct frontend through ChatGPT.
I am very interested in seeing what you build as I love the idea of using open models like BLOOM rather than closed ones. I followed you on IndieHackers, please remember to post updates as you go!

And yes, open source AI stuff is definitely interesting. So far, we're close to getting our first model up: Stable Diffusion. Which is an image gen AI.
Once we get BLOOM up, we're planning on getting other AIs too and also allowing users to fine tune their own BLOOM models.

Definitely! AI is only becoming easier to use. No more will there be the days where you need extensive knowledge in machine learning and training your own AIs from scratch.
You can just connect your app to an AI through an API.
If you're a micro SaaS, this accessibility will definitely benefit you.
