If you wanted to grow your users, what would you pick?

Hi indiehackers! Iv been storming on two services and need your help to decide which you guys would go for

1- A platform which lets you collab with other companies to promote each others product with their users.

For example- Lets say the other startup X has 10 users and you have 10 users. So X would promote you with its users and social media. And you also do the same. In this way both parties can get new users for almost free.

2- We as a content compay would write about the best new tools which helps entreprenuers and startups to get new users, increase roi, reduce costs etc.
We would write on 20+ platforms everyday.
How you can benefit from this is we would promote few tools on a monthly basis and write about it across 20+platforms.

So which is more appealing to you? 1 or 2 ?

I think 1st option is viable only if two different projects serve the same/similar customer audience. Also, each participating project users shouldn't be spammed with constant "opportunities".

2nd would work too but only if you'd attract enough people reading those reviews. Would it be similar to https://startupbuffer.com/ ?

    Either way, best of luck!

      Thanks arminas!
it wouldnt be like startupbuffer. What we will be doing is we will writing and posting daily not just on our blog but also on social plaforms and communities , this would help startups to get exposure and our audience would get honest reviews.

Oh, I see how that could gain traction, as founders themselves would be sharing your reviews to their own social circles too. Good luck with that!

No. 1 Sounds like 'link exchange' in the early 2000's , back in the day you would set up a banner on a partner site and share a portion of the click revenue, 'I scratch your back you scratch mine.' The problem was seeing too many ads or promoted sites on apps that you pay for is not something people would accept these days it would have to be done skillfully. Then again you have sites like Betalist and App sumo,HN,etc that will send you 1000 users in an hour but will lead to a high churn rate.

No. 2 it is for me IMO, honest well-written content, review site etc would work.

    Goodluck!

    Hello Arpit,

I’d say number 2 but please don’t use any AI content generator tool. Provide real value with your content and it could work :)

      Thanks Luctus!
Yeah AI generated content usually is not a very good way to run this. We have writers who will write and marketers to promote it.

So you already have a team! What are you doing now?

        Good luck!
