If you were to solve legal problem using the internet how would you do it?

You have legal problem that needs solving but you can't afford a lawyer, so you turn to the web. What site would you use? What would it look like? What services would it offer? How would it solve your problem? What would it cost? What would your experience be like? That's what I'm trying to find out.

If you ever used the legal system you know it can be painful, unpredictable and costly. Is it just me or is this something that needs to be solved? Would you be interested in a project that does that?

Avvo used to have a similar service (like a Quora for legal advice) where lawyers responded to potential clients' questions. It didn't take off well because lawyers were there to get clients, and potential clients were there to get free legal advice.
I don't know if their service is similar to yours, though. I guess the info would be helpful for you.

Hey thanks for letting me know about that. I wasn’t aware of Avvo. Yeah your right, that doesn’t sound like it would work. That’s why I want to start it as a community platform first. There are a number of organisations and individuals out there that have experiences of their respective legal systems that they want to share (& offer support to those going through the same thing), their content would provide invaluable to the site. At the moment a lot of these groups and individuals offer their advice on chronology platforms and have to reiterate (or backlink) to common solutions. To have information sorted by subject would save them a ton of time.

    Interesting thoughts @sevenearths

Have you tried Zegal, SeedLegals and Rocket Lawyer? Might be good for reference

Well from what I can tell. Zegal provides legal documentation. Seed Legals specialises in the legal needs of startups. Rocket Lawyer seems the closest with providing a digital first approach but still going down the traditional route of using a firm and the costs associated with that. Legal Now would be a community platform with a paid aspect. The difference is on LN the cost would be set by the market (consumer). This means that those that need advice would would be able to access it (the type of advice would obviously be a function of cost), instead of being neglected because they don’t reach a financial threshold (as with the current system).
