If You're Not in Charge, Someone Else Is.

I was fired after 13 years working in a casino.

Not because I was bad at my job.
Not because of any mistake.
Just... because margins needed to look better after the 2008 crash.
Senior staff had to go. I was one of them.

It shocked me. I never once considered my job was at risk. I showed up. I did the work. I was loyal.
And in a single decision made in a boardroom I wasn’t in my entire income disappeared.

It hit my family hard. It forced a reset. It woke me up.

If you're young and employed, this isn’t meant to scare you.
It’s just a reminder: if you’re not in charge, someone else is.
Your future, your livelihood, your time they’re at the mercy of someone else’s spreadsheet.

But when you build something of your own a product, a service, a community you start owning that destiny.

No one can fire you from what you create.
It might be hard, slow, uncertain but it's yours.

Build.

Even if it’s small at first.
Build because it makes you anti-fragile.
Build because one day, someone will face that spreadsheet again and it won't be you.
