I always thought that, first off, I would be really successful.

"I always thought that, first off, I would be really successful. Then, I'd just take some time off and I'd settle down. That's how I imagined life would be. I felt like I still had so much yet to do. But my girlfriend was like, 'No, the time for kids is now.' And I realized that I'd probably never be any readier than I was. But twins were a surprise. The first three months were absolutely horrendous. I wept quite a few times. It really pushed me to my limit, because I was trying to work on the startup 10 to 12 hours a day while waking up 5 times a night. I don't know how I did it. I think that's how people have heart attacks, right? They keep pushing through and one day they just drop dead. Now that we're through, it's like it was some kind of dream-nightmare. They're a year and two months old now, and it's a lot better. It's actually quite wonderful. I love coming back home and just playing with the kids before putting them to bed, and then waking up in the morning and seeing them before I go to work. Those are the highlights of my day."

It took a while to teach them that I can handle only 1 at a time :D

My twins are 1yr 1mo, so pretty close to yours. But oh man, you are 100% correct! Twins will put you through the ringers for the first 5-9 months. I found that I could survive on less sleep and free time than I thought I ever could.

I also learned that I get more done the less free time I have. (go figure). And when the twins started sleeping through the night, me and my family entered somewhat of a golden age!

Right now, I have been focusing on my FT job getting stuff done there, but I often think of how I can return to my bootstrapping / indie-hacking ways, so I envy you in that regard.

Congrats on the twins! Twin life is great! :D

      Thanks for commenting.
Literally, my entire life now is working on the business and family time. I can't begin to imagine how much harder it would be with a full-time job.
All in due time, I guess.

Becoming a dad gives you some cool superpowers, I've heard. Danger sense and lightning-fast reflexes when your kid is in danger are common. Being able to function on sub-optimal levels of sleep for prolonged periods of time is also fairly common. XD
Congrats on pulling through anyways! You did good! 💪
