"I'd had enough. I felt like I was carrying this massive weight that I just didn't want. My business was going in a direction that the community wanted and that would help it grow, but it didn't align with who I wanted to be. Sure from the outside it looked exciting. But I was wearing so many hats. I wanted to offload them and hire people, but I kept failing at that too. I was burnt out — and I couldn't quit. I was stuck. It's not that I was working non-stop 100-hour weeks. I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I was with my kids and thinking about work. I was out running and thinking about work. I was cooking and thinking about work. So I hired a CEO to help take the company forward. I hope that 2019 is the year that I mostly step back and adopt a role as an advisor. I really love the community and feel humbled to be at the center of it all, but I hope I've placed enough foundation for it to thrive without me."
Happy that you are taking care of yourself first.
Congrats. What a courageous move.
