IH, how would you validate this legal assistant AI app?
March 16 2023, @cpoly34 shared an idea of a web app that would streamline the entire process of drafting subpoenas. From looking up and determining the exact carrier to the exact office address and preferred outreach method. The idea seemed receptive and still is to some extent. For the past few weeks I’ve been unable to get this idea off my mind because I like to build in the real world, helping people live better stress-free lives.
This is my first dive into AI and I have waited long because I just can’t participate in generative AI for images and the likes.
Parallel AI is a legal assistant. What would take you at least 10 minutes to complete gets done in 10s.
- It looks up the carrier for a phone number so you know the exact company to contact
- It finds the exact company address and preferred outreach channel
- It drafts a boilerplate subpoena (you can train this to match your legal firms exact template) still working on this
This is all it does for now and I don’t want to add just about any more features yet until the idea is validated.
You would input a phone number and the app would automatically determine the carrier and draft the subpoena in seconds. I’m working on adding request queries for when you have specific requests you need along with the subpoena drafts.
I just whipped this app up in 5 days on and off 2 hours a day while focusing mostly on my other startups. I joined two paralegal Facebook groups yesterday and there’s a lot of subpoena/paralegal talk going on (I’m still observing)
Half the group members already say their employers are receptive about getting AI to run tasks because of confidentiality but also the other half don’t mind venturing into the tech.
How would you best validate this idea in a paralegal group of 39k members combined knowing that any severe push would come off as soliciting? How would you best validate this idea in general?

I'd DM people in that group until you get one who is willing to try your app. Get them to run through your app and see if it's userful.
I wouldn't post what you have in the group yet, because it's likely to get you banned.

I don't understand this part of your copy. What is a carrier? The telephone company the person uses? What is a preferred out reach method?
Thanks for the suggestion! The carrier is the telephone company yes, and each of them have a preferred reach out channel like fax, mail, email etc. if you use a reach out channel that’s not accepted, they reject the subpoenas or fight back at least.
@jvorex_ , this seems interesting, would love to try it. I'm up for partnering with you if you'd like some marketing help. Since, I'm in this world, I know what the copy and pitch should look like. Also, the phone subpoenas are just the tip of the iceberg. The same methodology could be used to create subpoenas for bank accounts, ISPs, etc.
Yes, you're right Chris. Phone subpoena is just the tip of the iceberg. I'm already seeing ways this could become a top product for the rest of the process as well for bank accounts etc., - with that said, I'd like to talk partnership and get this thing moving fast.
