With so much on my plate, it feels like I NEED to be working every day, but I also don't want to end up like Elon Musk. π₯ So I know that I will definitely be trying to set aside at least a couple of days over the break to just spend time with my husband and kids.
What about you? Are you trying to strike a balance over the holidays or do you feel like this is your last chance of 2022 to really grind?
Happy holidays, happy hacking!
I will work every single day over the holidays because I love it.
Programming is what I do for fun, so I will probably code every day of the holidays.
But no one is paying me for it, so does it count as work? It's more like volunteer work. π
When I was younger I was spending holidays playing games. Now my game is building a startup. It's challenging, there's leveling your knowledge and skills.
I try to reconcile working & family time. For sure over the holidays I will take some time off, but I guess not days, cuz building a side project is my biggest mission right now.
I take off whenever I like, don't need holidays or Christmas as specific dates for that π€
I also take off whenever I like, but still I take off my holidays as well (because that's the only time when my family/friends are available).
It doesn't need to be either/or.
Same here!
Taking a break is a good way to avoid burnouts. So my answer is definitely a YES :)
Yes
Yes! I'm not taking my foot off the marketing pedal, and being consistent is important. So still working as normal during the holidays (might actually be working more, since I have more free time).
Taking Christmas Day off for a hike. Will get right back to it the day after tho. I think the day off will be a good energy boost.
Holidays means you don't have a boss on that day.
The most creative setting you can have.
I'll check my support inbox and "remain contactable" during my holiday break.
Is that a form of working?
You decide!
I can't vote yet, since I'm a new member here. But yeah, I'll be working each and every day of the holiday
I've just beta launched my new proj, so will be showing it to people and collecting feedback. Will keep balance between work and leisure though as I normally do.
I can't yet vote in the poll, but:
Consistency is how I gauge my progress subjectively. I won't be taking time off. But I also don't put any pressure on myself to work deep into the night during this time of year.
Happy holidays!
I've learned over the years that pacing is so important. I simply have to take days off. The holidays are a perfect excuse to do so! Go see family and friends, watch a silly movie, go for a walk when it's really cold out... Give yourself a break! You deserve it!
The work will be there!!
Can't vote in the poll bc I don't have enough points, but I will be working (at least a little bit) every day of the holidays. But, it shouldn't be more than an hour in the morning or evening.
For me, it's not so much about whether the entire day is free from work so much as it it's about how focused I am on any given moment. Work gets my full attention. My family gets my full attention. I have to context switch.
