I'm a designer building a fitness RPG with AI because I couldn't find one. Thoughts?

Hey community,

Dominik here. I've been mostly a lurker here, but I'm so excited about my new project I just had to share it.

So, I have this problem. A while back I got obsessed with Ring Fit on the Nintendo Switch, and it was a game-changer. I actually wanted to work out. But once I beat the game, I looked for a similar experience and found... pretty much nothing.

So I thought, why not build it myself?

I'm calling it FitQuest.

The idea is to merge a fantasy RPG with your daily workout routine. You travel the world, complete quests, and fight monsters. But here's the twist. every action is tied to a real exercise.

Want to travel across the map? That'll be 30 seconds of high knees.

A goblin blocking your path? You'll have to do a set of squats and lunges to defeat it. You will realy swet to win a boss fight.

I'm a product designer by trade. My company MateLabs.co builds all sorts of tech, but I'm not a pro coder myself. I'm actually building this whole thing using Cursor and other AI tools to help me with the code. It's been a wild ride but it's amazing what you can build this way.

I'm getting close to finishing an MVP and I'd love to get your thoughts on the idea. Is this something you'd play?

I'm looking for people who might be interested in testing it out in a few weeks. If you're keen to turn your workout into an adventure, let me know!

Cheers,

Hey Dominik, I built pretty much the exact same thing! I was inspired about 12 years ago when a fellow developer at work was using https://habitica.com (A task tracking RPG) and I too wanted to "train" and "gain experience" from working out - Something I started doing daily back then. Honestly I never looked for market fit, I just wanted something to scratch my own itch and it's been great. There are other similar apps that let you "walk the world" but they don't include the RPG element. I'm curious how yours works. When you have an MVP please share!
