I've been responsible for dozens of logo and branding design.

Here are my top 10 tips to remember when it comes to getting a logo designed for your startup:

Make sure you’re designing a logo works on small screens
Test your logo on small screens! Most logos will be viewed on mobile
Make sure you’re designing a logo with quality fonts
Make sure you or your designer are using high quality fonts! Don't cheap out here
Make sure you’re designing a logo that is easy to read
Your wordmark must be easy to read, get more than one opinion on it
Make sure you’re designing a logo with suitable colours
Make sure your logos suit your business, don't use bright pink for a serious finance business for example
Make sure you’re designing a logo that matches your business
Make sure the visual language of your logo matches your business, don't use serious hard lines if you're designing for a kids brand, and vice versa
Make sure you’re designing a logo that works in black and white
Logos still appear in black and white, make sure it still works in one colour.
Make sure your designing a logo that is not too wide
I know you may have a long business name, but don't make the logo too wide! Double up the lines if you have to.
Make sure your designing a logo that is not too high
Again, don't make the logo too high. It will just get scaled down when in use.
Make sure you’re designing a logo that is simple
Keep it simple! Complicated logos date really quickly.
Make sure you’re designing a logo you’re proud of
Finally, make sure you're happy with your logo, it could be with you for years to come!
