I'm a technical founder. Still no co-founder.. What am I doing wrong? 😏

It's really, really, really hard to find a co-founder. But there are other people out there just like you who'd love to help you bring your product to market.

I find this interesting to hear from a developer that it is difficult to find a cofounder. I’m on the design side of the project, as a designer with a product and a proven market fit I feel there is truth to your point of view. I'm also referencing a SaaS business which is different then say a physical product such as your product. Nevertheless, I too cannot find a cofounder.

For me, I’m sure it’s because the product I want to create is just not sexy enough for a developer to take an interest. It’s a CMS for a niche market in the digital signage space, but IF marketed correctly could pull in a 7 figure ARR based on the market research I did. Of course, with the health crisis the market research figures will change. Still, for a couple of bootstrapping cofounders I feel it’s a project worth pursuing.

Let me ask, are developers interested in the business side of things? Do you get excited looking at marketing figures, potential gross revenue, cost of goods, targeted audiences etc? From a designer point of view, we do want to create things that are interesting to us which I’m sure is the same for developers too. But if the elements of business does not interest one, why try to build a product then sell it? If you don’t enjoy the required skills of being an entrepreneur than why bother, right?

The commitment level is a big factor, I totally agree. I think 5-7 hours part-time per week is great. If you’re starting a business, that’s a SMALL amount of time to commit. Anything less is just a hobby. I’m hoping to find 8-10 hours commitment, now you have me rethinking things (lol). I haven’t experience the trust issue, then again I haven’t been able to work with a developer long enough.

For a co-founder, first I would make sure I share the same values and second that we have complementary skills.

A good way to find out is to start collaborating with other individuals on an advisor role, if there is good "business chemistry" then slowly formalize the relationship.

The best cofounder is usually your uni buddy. A stranger with no mutual trust cannot go far. I will prefer to go solo. If u want to find a cofounder, why not join tech meetups and hackathons?

I definetly believe in your technological abilities and I see great potential because of that. However, I find it difficult to see how this product with it's current functionalities could bring any great value.
From my understanding, it is a competing device against Alexa and Google's one, but with the added function of it flying and moving.
I am more of a growth/marketing person, specialized in instagram (+ youtube). thought i learnt the mediums nuances from 2-3 years of experience and not formal education. Additionally, I have taken a entrepreneurship class this year, and have gotten a good insight on the micro and macro aspects of a business.
That being said, I am totally up for freelance work for both giving perspective for strategizing product- and marketing-wise, as well as helping spreading your message through instagram.
