Title: I'm building a travel platform where stories are filtered by destination and reason for visiting
I've spent years backpacking across Southeast Asia and beyond, and the one thing that always frustrated me about travel content was how generic it is. You search for "things to do in Bangkok" and get the same listicle from a hundred different blogs. None of it tells you what it's actually like to go there as a solo backpacker, or on a lads trip, or with a young family.
So I built TravelPen.
The idea is simple. Writers tag their destination and their reason for visiting, then tell their story. Readers search by where they're going and why, and find content from people who took the same type of trip. No listicles, no sponsored fluff. Just real accounts from people who actually went.
I'm a solo founder based in the UK, building it entirely on my own alongside everything else life throws at you. The stack is Next.js, Convex, and Clerk. It's live at travelpen.io and I'm currently focused on growing the writer community.
Would love to connect with anyone who's worked on content platforms or community-driven products. Happy to answer any questions.
