I love your video's chill vibe, it's cool to have one day a week like this, when you're taking strides forward on all the other days :). By the way, interesting that you're living in Amsterdam. I just visited my tech cofounder in Amsterdam last weekend! Where can I find the video's background music?

Thanks, I appreciate it :) Oh cool, what do you think of Amsterdam? Background music comes from Epidemic Sound :)

I thought it would be extremely busy, but my cofounder lives in an area that is soooo peaceful, loved it! Usually I prefer small towns, but I could imagine living there. I hope everything goes well with your (potential) cofounder. We've set the goal for ourselves to start making money this year. You seem to be building Flowtion without any pre-sales, while I am trying to get pre-sales for our idea, because we don't want to waste months of development for an MVP that no one uses. Would love to connect!

Love that you're posting this. Are you also posting it on twitter as well? You can do build in public and it's pretty effective there.

It's what I've been doing with Evoke

Doing it on my own twitter as well: https://twitter.com/TheRealEtch

That is really helpful. The video editing is just amazing or doing it yourself or you have hired someone. And good luck for your product.

Would you mind providing a brief synopsis of the video's content as well?
This would be particularly helpful for those who prefer to consume information through written text rather than video.

I used an AI tool to summarize the video, here are the bullet points.

    • The speaker had a funny experience they wanted to share
    • They use a productivity app called Notion for work
    • They had a good meeting with a potential co-founder named Ricky
    • They received a Rolex look-alike strap for their Apple watch from a company called Stripe
    • Stripe also sent them a growth handbook for their business
    • The speaker tweeted about the package and it went viral with over 200,000 views
    • The experience shows the power of good marketing.

How you make time to edit these videos ? Do you do it regularly ?

I've been doing it for a while now, it comes naturally, and I basically just film myself working, so win-win :)

I have been toying with the idea of building in public.

I strangely face some resistance to it despite the fact that I have been creating content online since 2016.

Can you please share what inspired you to build your SASS in public ?

    1. 1

Did it before and it helped with marketing, but above all, it's fun to do + it gives me the accountability :)

Wondering if you think if building in public with YouTube speeds up growth or if it hampers product development? I guess it doubles as marketing?

    1. 1

It definitely helps with marketing and building an audience (potential users), but above all, it's fun to do + it gives me accountability :)

I had the same thought at first (that it hampers product development). Then I looked at his indiehacker profile and Mike seems to be shipping a lot. That's why my educated guess is that he's taking one day a week to create these videos and he's shipping during the remaining time.

      1. 2

The vlogs don't take that much time tbh, I just film what I do anyway. But yes, one day a week is for content creation/marketing things, that's when I edit, etc. :)
