I'm creating a bot to track your finance.
Over the last couple of years, I have tried countless personal finance/expense tracking apps. But somehow after using the app for a few days I end up quitting.
Mainly because it feels like a lot of work to open a different app and fill out a form when I living a moment.
Whereas in some form or another we open messaging apps like WhatsApp/Messenger multiple times throughout the day! So I created a WhatsApp group for myself where I just messeses like
3 lunch,
.6 bus,
4 dinner
This felt much frictionless & also helped me to lookup later. But I knew this isn't sustainable long term, as more and more data gets added, it will get hard to keep track of.
Now one solution would be, if at the end of the day I check the messages and manually log them In a spreadsheet. But I had a better idea!
The idea is to create a bot that will do that for me 😬.
Luckily last month someone also posted a blog complaining similar issues he was facing with expense tracker apps and I shared my idea of a bot in the comment. I got surprisingly good feedbacks from there.
So have finally decided to build it for the public! 🙌
But before I actually start building the product I need your help.

Interesting idea. Basically a personal financial transaction logging.
Yeah.. I guess later I can create a dashboard to parse the test and meaningfully show then on the UI
A finance app is on my list of possible future projects :)
I think to make it working it needs to tie in with credit card and ebanking
oh cool. What sort of finance app? expanse tracking?
budgeting + expense tracking. IMO it doesn't make much sense to do one without the other
I'd vote for 'WhatsApp'. It's much more convenient.

I've thought of something similar but haven't had time to build it.
I would use the Plaid API so that it collects transactions automatically.
And I want the updates posted to a private Slack channel, with the option of different channels for different accounts.
This might be a small indie project for personal use but it could be quite profitable if you targeted businesses.
