I'm looking for marketing ideas for my product

Hi there,

I'm testing the market right now for my Wordpress plugin. The plugin lazily loads Marketo Forms, and I'm planning to add lazy load for AddThis widgets and some other commonly used 3rd party integrations, killing page speed.

The issue I've hit is that Google Adwords stops my ads because of 'Low search volume'. Targeting 'Marketo Forms' and 'AddThis' as a broad term is quite expensive.

Does anyone have any ideas how to market this kind of plugin?

Hey @aguidrevitch - can you clarify - who's your target demographic, and what problem are you solving for them?

If it's "marketo users", you might want to monitor for mentions of "marketo" or "wordpress form" on social media and engage personally to learn more from potential users. You can also see what language your "most interesting" leads are using, and monitor for mentions of that language to gradually improve relevance + reach.

      Thanks, sounds like a plan!

Have you thought about marketing to people searching for the issue you're solving (people who don't know what the fix is yet) rather than those who are directly searching for your offering (people who know what they're looking for)?

I'm not super well-versed in WP plugin marketing, but that's a good rule of thumb for widening your marketing net without busting the bank — think about your audience and their pain point(s) that you're solving, and talk about that. Hopefully that helps!

You may want to look into services that aggregate the technology that firms use on their public site. Builtwith is an example. They have a list of more than 20,000 sites that use Marketo and their contact info.

Sounds good, thanks, will definitely do that! At the moment I think about re-pivoting and adding more 3rd party services to optimize and then go to market using freemius / free trial, which I think is pretty fair in regard to customers. If it works - it is safe to pay for it

Go broader: "Marketo", "wordpress forms", "wordpress plugin marketo"

Go where wordpress users are: reddit, linkedin, etc. Try alternative ad networks like BuySellAds as well.

Do you think it is good candidate for Product Hunt?

I have no idea. you might as well try.

Thanks, with "wordpress forms" I would need to compete with all the forms plugins. With 'marketo wordpress' I ended up with 4,25$ per click
