I'm out of ideas for my YouTube channel. please help! 😓
One year ago, I launched my YouTube channel and created a few videos about Product Hunt. To my surprise, they gained significant popularity, especially for a new channel. The process of filming and the positive response I received boosted my confidence and made me enjoy the experience. Excited to continue my career as a YouTuber, I even invested in a fancy mic!
My objective was to create videos for indie makers like myself. I had a story to tell, having bootstrapped a SaaS, grown it to $15K MRR, and eventually sold it for $800K—all on my own.
But this GPT thing got in the way 😓 Now we have a powerful chat that knows everything. So is there a need for my content? Is there any value in my experience and knowledge? More than that, we can generate persons, and make them talk — all with AI.
This experience has left me feeling demotivated. In an attempt to rekindle my passion for creating content, I'm turning to the IndieHackers community for help. I would be grateful if you could comment on this post with a topic you'd like me to create a video about. I promise to produce a video for each comment, sharing insights on my journey as an indie maker. I've always been transparent about my experiences, and I'm happy to share them with you.

People will still often prefer a personal connection and a human point of view, despair will do little good, first see if it is reducing your metrics/traffic (probably not or minimally so), second maybe find a way to incorporate or use it in your own creation process. Lastly find out what the thing you do that nobody else does is and do that, then you can't be so easily replaced.
Also there is a lot to be said about those who do things and those who don't, I know a lot of really smart people who just wont do something like start a youtube or start a small business on etsy, they could, but they won't. Just being someone who tries is a huge advantage, someone who keeps going could be another.

Even if ChatGPT seems like its a huge thing rn you'll be able to find a video idea that can blow up. One video idea that would be rly cool would be a review of projects that others are working on and launching (like things from buildspace)

Nothing will stop it but it will take 10-15 years before it is any good at it. I saw an interview with Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAI) recently. He says videos are not a priority and won't be good any time soon.
OpenAI is not prioritize videos but other companies do 🥲
if you think it will take 15 years divide it by 5 because nowadays things go x5 times faster.

what do you mean by managing videos? i upload one-by-one after creation.
What I mean is, before I complete a creative video, there will be many versions of the video. I would like to ask how you manage these versions, or what tools you use. Sometimes I and I will share in advance to others to help with suggestions, and it is too troublesome to send them directly.

Your experiences and your unique perspective is something no GPT can replace. Why not cover new tech like https://wasp-lang.dev/ and compare to what you're used to? It's been growing fast lately and there are still no many YT reviews of it, so you'll probably get a decent exposure.

the biggest struggles were in my head lol. how to not get burnt out, how to keep motivation etc. i will make a video about his since you are asking!!!
Youtube videos generally come down 2 types: informational and stories. You seem to be in the informational category. It's brave for you to put out content and shows initiative but the game is very competitive so you need to focus on improving your videos and delivery each week.
What are your favorite channels and subjects that are being covered? How are you improving your videos every week to emulate those kinds of videos?
Also, to make it easier, you can hire a good editor for about 20-25$ an hour that will improve your b-roll, etc.

I agree with Vishrut, review the products of others, maybe have viewers send you what they're working on and you breakdown the positive and negative.

Dont get discouraged, keep grinding. Ideas will come. ChatGPT is faaaar from producing engaging video.
ChatGPT already can write better articles than most of us. What will stop it from making engaging videos?
Don't worry, creativity blocks are common. Why not try interviewing successful bootstrapped startups or featuring a day in the life of a bootstrapping founder? You could also share your own personal experiences and lessons learned along the way. And don't forget to ask your audience what they'd like to see! Keep experimenting and trying new things to keep your content fresh and engaging.
That's going to be our focus going forward!

@alexanderisora In my personal experience Makers at Product Hunt are always looking for support/traction for their product. I receive regular requests from them.
You can also support the makers when they launch their products. Since products are being launched every day, why don't you touch base with the Makers and interview them about the product that they have just launched. You can create a video that highlights all the salient features of that product and share it on YouTube. Even compare the features with some of the existing products so that buyers can decide which product they need to purchase.
Since you already have the skills (video editing etc) you can also offer Makers an opportunity to create a video about their product which they can share once they launch their product.
i will make it! i will pay attention to unique niches and markets of the new product so it is both useful for the maker and interesting for a viewer.
You can do YouTube video about featured products of the week. This helps people like me to understand what's trending in just 5 minutes

Product Hut has many things to cover . It has community as well. You can pick any question from there and then give your answer in the video.
Then go back to the question on Product hunt and then give a link to your YouTube video to get more engagement
