I'm recording myself everyday until I make a profitable startup
Hey!
I’m going to post a short video of myself every single day until I create a profitable startup (goal is $1200/m to cover my living expenses). I have $50/month of total revenues at the moment.
I do that to be accountable and share what I learn (mainly in marketing) with people along the way.
To give some context, I learned to code in May and I work full time on my projects (I have $ reserves and I live in Asia to save on living costs).

I'm doing this too, but with weekly videos instead of daily! It's been a really good process for me. I've learned a lot just by vocalizing my progress each week. It's not easy to keep it up though, but I think it will help people to see you do it. Good luck!!

Yeah I post a thread each week summarizing my video. Twitter has been good for engaging with other founders, but I still haven't cracked it for audience growth.

For Asia, so far there is 0 downside to living here, internet is great, food is great (and cheap), cost of living is super cheap for the quality you get, and the people are 100x nicer than europe !
I still haven’t tried living in Europe since it’s expensive like the US but doesn’t pay programmers as much. Maybe one day as a successful indie hacker, I’ll go in the summer.
Imo Europe is nice for vacations but that's it, I wouldn't live there anymore

When I'll have more time, maybe I'll check to volunteer on marketing/ads/CRO, I used to give classes back then and I loved it.
As for the positioning of the app, it uses A.I to answer automatically, so it's a different product, but atm my focus is on releasing a free product, it's easier to distribute so I can get some experience faster!
Neat. How developed would you say your business philosophy is? I think this is one of the major things that can make one successful, aside from a lot of experimentation and a positive attitude!

If you mean my skills/experience , I’m not starting from scratch in business as I have 5 years of experience in e-commerce, so probably more than the average, but I’m a newbie when it comes to SaaS
I’ll probably be able to find « direction » faster, but I still have everything to learn

Great! It's my opinion what might set some more experienced entrepreneurs apart is they have a bit of a playbook which at least includes things not to do because they learned the hard way of experience. And even if they're not that profound individually, added up it could meaningfully boost success odds. This is why continual learning from your ventures is important. Timeless wisdom is the best!
SaaS tends to be the get-rich-quick scheme that turns into a get-rich-slow scheme. If it's your passion, I'd absolutely go for it. Put another way, it's a labor of love so it's certainly not for everyone - not everyone loves hacking away on web-apps. For others, there's plenty of other attractive models like productized services, free services that are monetized via data/advertising, etc. Good luck!!

The "what not to do" is super important, as it will cost you time , which is the most valuable resource.
That's also why I started writing down everything I learn in 2018, writing helps remember things better (and that way it can also benefit other people)
As for the get-rich-quick scheme, I think all get-rich-quick schemes turn into a get-rich-slow eventually haha
You don't have to love the product but you have to learn to love the process tho.
And as you said, not everyone can do it, otherwise everyone would be entrepreneur

Its a good idea if you treat seriously. Makes you feel obligated to do it. Only issue I see is the default on twitter is not the most recent post? which might be better or not? Thats why I like the versatility of old school forums.

And for the tools yep, that’s one thing that wasted countless hours of my time in the past, I won’t do it again, only learn something if you have to

Ive been recording for myself for more than a year actually, but never publicly, was just for myself.
