Finally, after weeks of preparation, coding and testing - v 1.8 is finally out the door and live - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cybersky.snapsearch 🔥
This packs big punches in the form of:
I have a feeling this should lead to more conversions. Has anyone tried this before and experienced something like increase in premium users/purchases or anything of that sort?
I can't say for Google payments, but I get substantial numbers of would be customers (largely in S. America or East Asia) complaining that their cards get rejected when going through Stripe checkout.
It's a pain to integrate Paypal, so I've just done a parallel setup where I bill people manually with it and it works every time. I don't feel like the hassle of dealing with Paypal, though, so I don't offer it as an option for monthly subscriptions.
tldr; at least in my case, I'm probably leaving substantial money on the table with just one payment method
I have the same problem with Google payments, a really good number of users can't pay using that medium.
Thus, to serve all I had to think of new integrations.
How do you do it manually though? Isn't that extremely difficult to do? Also, don't users find it cumbersome? Very curious.
So far all my users understand PayPal. I just send an invoice and they pay it, somehow. I'm not sure why their cards would fail with Stripe and be ok with PayPal, but it happens.
Ahh okay.
So the sending invoices part is manual, right?
It can be made recurring with no software integration, but I have to initiate them and deal with any churn manually
Thank you so much for sharing. Very interesting :)
For early adopters the range of payment method choices shouldn't be that important -- those are the guys who came for the product and are willing to suffer a bit;
Personally I like when the app suggest one payment method I use (doesn't give a choice), that's just less thinking for me
Mhmm, I get what you're trying to say. Personally that's the approach I like as well.
My problem was, I've somehow managed a lot of users in countries (like Iran) which don't have support for Google Play Purchases etc. For them, either Bitcoin or say PayPal is the only option.
Or else they could never upgrade.. So it was a choice between what you said vs serving all users.
then you did the right thing, also a stray thought -- probably your audience is a lot like current Telegram's audience, may be it will pay to target the same demographics/geo
Yup, you're right about the target. Quite a lot of users with those same demographics and locations.
Any suggestions on how to target though? Anything I could do explicitly?
