Improving discoverability with app stores

A trend I've noticed is stuff that I have released in an app directory or app store does better in terms of organic growth than just putting up a website. This is particularly true for directories which are designed for specific platform. I guess this improves discoverability. Here are some sites where I've listed software which has organically grown without any real marketing:

  • Google Play store (for mobile apps)
  • Itch.io (for games and games tooling)
  • Microsoft app source (for Office add-ins)

Some others I haven't tried:

  • iOS app store
  • Chrome/Firefox extensions store

What are some other places where people search for apps? I'm specifically looking for directories for existing platforms rather than SaaS listings like Betalist or Product Hunt.
