In what order : CustomerThoughts, Landing page, MVP?

Hi,

When you have an idea, what is it best to do first? (to avoid wasting time and energy)

A. Contact possible customer via email to get their thoughts on a product idea?
B. Build the landing page about the possible product (content + pricing) ?
C. Build a really simplistic version of the product to show to customer? (MVP)

Please order the items A, B and C in the order you think it should be done. Feel free to add any missing item.

My challenges are a 9to5 job, young kids, socially active the week-end, exhausted the evenings and procrastination during the 2 x 30min I have left during the day ;-)

I just failed with A-B-C. And based on what I could learn, I'll go with B-A-C next time. πŸ™‚

Why B first? can you explain based on your experience? Did customers said: "That's great but show me something?"

Hey Tom, glad that you asked.

The problem about talking ideas to people at the beginning is β€” it's still raw. Specifically on my experience, I started talking to people rigorously, only to realize at the end that almost all of my ideas can't be implemented from the technical standpoint. When we're doing B, we're forced to think about the rough-but-works solution that we want to present to people. Not to mention that tangibility is also important to show how real the solution is to people. πŸ™‚

Feel free to ask more questions if you still curious on something.
        Cheers! 😊

Kids and a job are hard already on their own, so your time will be even more limited. I would go get firm responses from customers and get them to commit to a purchase, and then build the actual product with paid customers in hand.

That's a very good point Simon. I have to say it sounds challenging to ask someone to pay upfront for something that does not exist. Right now, I would not know how to ask without feeling a bit awkwardness or embarrassment.
