Inboxes App: 6 months to 100 users, ~3 months to 200, 1 month to 300.

Hey all 👋 I'm Patrick, working on Inboxes App, a disposable email browser extension for Chrome.

These past few months have been crazy! I've really dug down in to SEO and started writing posts as well as analysing topics to write about, and I'm stunned but it's slowly working! I'm also talking about my project and submitting it to many different project/startup directories as well as talking about its progress on Twitter. This is the first project I've really told myself to focus on sharing and marketing the project and it's finally working 🕺

No dout things will slow down a little after this crazy surge of new users, but it's incredibly encouraging to see all this hard work paying off, especially during a very busy period in my life.

I've actually barely touched the project this past month, but Google is bringing in fairly consistent users and is driving daily downloads. With a bit more spare time coming up in the following weeks I'm excited to smash out another round of writing, sharing and building and try get those numbers up.

Useful tools I've used include UberSuggest for keyword research, Splitbee for tracking and optimising the home page for downloads and Google Search Console for figuring out what's working and what's not working.

While the product is still super simple, by really focussing on the conversion rate and the basics, I can rest (mostly) assured that when I go for a big marketing push the numbers will follow. Having these early numbers and some clicks through from Google as well as other search engines makes testing my Hypotheses so much easier.

An example: the old website had a conversion rate of about 11%, but after the redesign it's now sitting at about 22% with a recent jump up to 33% due to a surge of users. An A/B test I'm running also has a slight improvement over its variant (though it's not yet statistically significant enough to run with it just yet).

While I certainly don't know all the answers, I'm sharing my journey on my twitter as well as on IH. In the coming weeks I'm hoping to start getting some paid features developed and then start to test what works best. That'll be the true test and the real measure of success for this side project 😊 LFG!
