Hello,
I am about to start validating my idea with potential users of my product, but I was wondering what would be their incentive to answer my questions? I was thinking of offering them first users discounts, but that only works when they understand the product (so I have to describe it when i reach out to them... which brings out the problem of idea stealing, i want to make them sign an NDA beforehand)
Any thoughts? Not sure how to approach this, how did you?
I like your thoughts. You think very correctly. The client will always be interested in gifts and prizes, especially if free. This will allow you to manage the client, not that he manages you. From this position, you will understand the pros and cons of your company. I work in the service sector, my company works with https://www.uponcloudnine.co.uk/. They provide quality gifts for your client. This will help you increase the number of potential customers. It can also be used in advertising for your company, especially if it is beautifully designed. Do not waste time in vain. Try not only to retain your customers but also to bring new ones. Good luck.
Like @JarrydLong mentioned, giving away stuff might make people talk to you only for the sake of getting something free. However, I actually don't think it's a bad idea to incentivize if you give away something small.
What worked for me was letting them know in a very genuine way that a quick 20 min chat would help me validate some ideas, and that I'd be really grateful. People like to feel like they're helping others if you word it correctly.
(I also don't think you need to worry about idea stealing - execution, strategy and so many more factors is 90% of what makes a product successsful.)
Hi @aczi0
I tell you my experience.
I created an app so what I did was to create an Instagram account with a thematic related to the topic of my app.
After getting some audience I reached (now I have 10K followers) my followers via DM and asked them if they wanted to test my app.
Most of them replied me that they did not have time, or memory in the phone.
But a small % were able to help.
What I offered them was to promote their account in an Instagram story.
Perhaps you ca offer something similar.
For example, in my case, I could be interested in helping you validating your idea if you help using my app and sending feedback.
There are always ways to give incentives but it depends on the person.
I hope it helps.

I struggle a lot with this question. I’ve found that if you are targeting the right person with the right message, a lot of people will give you a meeting or provide feedback because it’s something they really care about.
I read somewhere tha someone gave a couple of people a small Amazon voucher to incentivise them to provide honest feedback. Only thing is that you risk people just talking to you for the sake of it to get a free voucher.
