India's AI Startup Ecosystem Finally Has a Home

Six months ago I noticed something odd.

India now has over 4,500 active AI startups — the third-largest pool in the world after the US and China. Indian AI startups raised $1.48B in Q1 2026 alone, about 38% of all startup funding in the country. Sarvam AI just became a unicorn. NVIDIA is partnering with Reliance to build massive AI infrastructure here. The IndiaAI Mission's national GPU pool has crossed 34,000 units.

And yet, if you're an AI founder in Bangalore, Pune, or Gurgaon — where do you go?

Not Product Hunt. That's great for a launch day spike, but it's not an ecosystem. Not a LinkedIn group — the signal-to-noise is brutal. Not Twitter/X — you're competing with 10,000 SaaS bros for attention. There's no single place where an Indian AI founder can list their product, find an AI job, read funding news that actually matters, share their build-in-public story, and get seen by a global audience.

So I built one.

What it is

AI Startup Impact is a platform built specifically for Indian AI startups — a single home where founders, builders, investors, and AI enthusiasts can plug into what's actually happening in the Indian AI ecosystem.

The core idea is simple: visibility. Indian AI startups are doing real, hard work — clean energy AI models, multilingual education platforms, GPU cloud infrastructure, Indic-language foundation models. Most of that work never reaches a global audience because there's no dedicated stage for it. We're building that stage.

What you can actually do on it

  • List your AI startup or AI tool — get discovered by investors, buyers, and 5,000+ AI founders in the network

  • Find AI jobs — roles across Indian AI companies, from seed-stage to unicorn

  • Share your founder story — build in public, the way IndieHackers taught us, but to an audience that actually cares about Indian AI

  • Read funding news that's relevant — weekly digests on who's raising, how much, and in what sub-sector

  • Track the ecosystem — GPU availability, model launches, partnerships, policy moves

Everything sits in one place, so a founder doesn't have to stitch together five newsletters and three Discord servers just to know what's happening this week.

Why I'm posting this here

IndieHackers is where I learned that building in public beats building in silence. The IH community gets something most platforms don't: founders don't need another "top 10 AI tools" listicle. They need distribution, credibility, and a backlink that actually means something.

So this post is doing two things:

  1. Sharing what I'm building — openly, because that's how IndieHackers works

  2. Inviting other AI founders to list their startups on aistartupimpact.com — free, no gatekeeping

The bigger bet

My thesis is straightforward: the next decade of AI won't be won only in the Valley. India has the talent (IITs, ISRO, a generation of engineers who grew up online), the capital appetite (Sarvam, Krutrim, Yotta are proof), and the demand (200M+ students, a billion mobile users, industries desperate for cost-efficient AI).

What's missing is infrastructure for discovery. The world hears about OpenAI and Anthropic daily. It hears about Indian AI startups maybe once a quarter, when a funding round crosses a wire.

I want to close that gap.

Where it's at right now

Live, indexing AI startup news and funding updates daily. We're onboarding founders to list their products and tools. The founder stories section already features deep dives — from Zomato's quiet transformation into an AI company, to Anima Anandkumar's journey from IIT Madras to Caltech.

If you're an AI founder (or building an AI tool, or hiring for AI roles), I'd genuinely value your feedback and a listing. And if you just want to follow what's happening in Indian AI — bookmark it.
