Indie Game Dev: multiplayer

Hey,
this might be an extremely long shot, maybe this is even not the right community but i'm gonna try anyway.

Is there an indie game development team around building or aspiring to build multiplayer games?
If yes: what are the struggles you have to go through when it comes to building and shipping the multiplayer part (example: publishing/managing the online backend)?
If no: was building a multiplayer game ever an option and you just abandoned it because of potential struggles/complexity related to the online compartment?

speaking of mulitplayer games, I just published my first game dev tutorial. The Game Dev Shift site has a new blog post available. It is a comprehensive guide to creating a multiplayer game site. The tutorial utilizes Hathora for the backend server, and Peasy-UI for the front end. I welcome you all to take a gander at it, and let me/us know what you think! There are some neat tools for Javascript/Typescript here too!

No, but it was an option. I am a programmer willing to build gamedev startup. Yeah, multiplayer seems to be... scary) however, maybe i will take a risk, but first i want to know (i am not sure yet) what i want to build (it should be breathtaking so i can be motivated to go through struggles).
