Got it. Yeah we're working on a performance fix. Right now we're just loading too much data and making too many requests to Firebase when building the homepage.

As for the site being a single-page JS-heavy web app, that's not going to change any time soon. The reason I built it this way in the beginning was because it was fun. At this point, however, it would be way too big of a development effort to rewrite the whole site. Although if I find a way to slowly replace one page at a time with a server-rendered version, I might (eventually) embark on that transition.
