Inexperienced indie hacker working on a landing page, looking for feedback!

https://useform.co

Hey, I’m working on a new SaaS and would love some roasting on my landing page. I’m a total beginner to this and I would love to have some insights and your most valuable tips, from the indiehacker community!

It's a great landing page but it's unclear to me what the USP is, I'm a heavy user of forms in general (Google Forms and TypeForm is integrated in many areas where I work), what are the problems with these SaaS that I wouldn't have with useform ?

  2. 3

Well, you can be an inexperienced indie-hacker but you are definitely a good designer and developer as far as I saw the page, that's all I know.

    1. 2

Thanks a lot for the kind words!

  3. 3

Hey @TotomInc you did a great job overall! I'd like to give you a few suggestions from UX perspetive:

    1. Try to niche-down your target audience for the product. Are you creating it for busy small-agency owners looking for a quick form solution? Or your target are founders that just got an investment and want a perfect no-code form tool.

    2. Nail your value proposition. Honestly, there are plenty of forms tool around the web and they keep popping up every day. Why one would choose your product specifically?

    3. Keep it stupid simple and remove everything that doesn't add value. Get rid of colors, shapes, blurs, glows etc anything that draws attention from CTA.

Also you may want to give a reason for people to sign up on a waitlist, like a special discount.

    Good luck!

    1. 1

      Thanks for this amazing feedback!

      • Still need to work on my niche but what you said is kinda what my vision is. Empower companies & agencies with fast form creation. Provide both no-code and a dead simple developer API (but I want to niche deeper into no-code, I’ll experiment this in the following weeks).

      • I’ll work on my proposition value once the niche direction is properly set!

      • Special discount for early users is a nice idea, I will most definitely work on this!

  4. 2

I created a product that also focuses on forms. However, the hardest part is marketing and making it memorable to future customers. It's difficult to get customers to switch from their current solutions to something new. But if you can convince them to sign up, remarketing periodically can usually yield the best results. The feedback from other users on the marketing website is great! I would only suggest adding an intuitive onboarding process to ensure a smoother user experience.

I am excited to give useform a try!

    1. 2

Thanks for your very valuable feedback! I’ll make sure to work on onboarding before releasing.

Hey mate looks great, here are some small things with the copy:

    • Save x10 time doesn't make much sense. I'd consider re-wording that first little description.
    • The logo is identical to Google Docs with a slight gradient, I'd make it slightly different
    • A few typos on the page, copy and paste it all into chatGPT and ask for a review or even
google Docs would pick up "intuitve"
    • If you have a generous free tier I would probably mention that up the top unless you have a decent reason not to
    • Part of the page says create your form in 1 minute, then down the bottom it says 5 minutes.
    1. 1

Thanks, I haven’t thought of ChatGPT to help me catch typos (not a native English speaker).

Haven’t worked on the pricing but I am able to make it generous for free users. Power users such as agencies & companies will have access to some restricted but powerful features.

I worked fast on a little iteration yesterday, I’ll fix the minor wording quirks!

  6. 2

Hey! Congrats on starting this journey.

Apart from what has already been said, I feel the embed anywhere image is a bit confusing. When I saw that, I tried to copy the text but as it's an image it was dragged here and there. Probably you should place it on left or right similar to the benefits.

    1. 1

Yes the image is kind temporary, I need to work on a better showcase for this feature.

  7. 2

This looks great, really well executed!

Since you're targeting no-code marketing teams you could also add copy / sections that target those users specifically with how it's going to solve their problems.

    1. 1

Sure, I need a bit more work on the niche!

  8. 2

    The page looks excellent!

I would work a bit on the messaging, you are telling a lot about the features, but not so much about what I could do with it. Some actual examples would be useful. For example, I use this as a contact form on my website: https://web3forms.com

Their use-case is a lot simpler, but because it's so clear what it can be used for, it's easy to see me using it.

    1. 1

Thanks for the feedback, marketing wording/messaging is really hard haha! I iterate a lot on this!

If you have any wording ideas, I'll gladly take it! :)

  9. 2

Love the blur effect! Personally, I'd increase the size of the input text and subscribe button. Also, towards the bottom of the website you should include a CTA! Other than that, everything looks great! Good luck on your launch!

    1. 1

      Thanks a lot, I've increased a bit the input & button width/height.

I'll start working on adding a new CTA at the bottom of the page.

  10. 2

    Looks awesome!

Just like @ArberSpahiu said I would like to know how your offer is different from your competitors.

    1. 1

Unlike competitors, my Useform is an hybrid form-builder that can be used both by developers & no-code/marketing teams.

There are 2 ways to use a form created in Useform:

      • Intuitive drag-and-drop builder with custom styles, integrate on any website with a embed script (most competitors are using iframes, old-school and can lead to bugs).
      • Developers can create on-demand forms by using the Useform API

I am still trying to find some specific niches and positioning in the form creation. :)

      1. 1

Yes, your message really depends on the target niche. Non-devs would probably meh on embed vs iframe stuff, you need a dev that has actually tried other form providers and experienced these issues (which is probably a niche too small).

On the other hand, having an API for this is really unique but I can't think of a use case. When you implemented this feature, what scenario did you have in mind?

  11. 2

This is a great start, but a few things to consider:

    1. There are call outs on "wasted time", but specificity usually helps. Do people who generate lots of forms get back an hour a week, 10 hours a month, etc?
    2. "Subscribe" CTA seems too commital for a waiting list - it seems like it has the potential to turn some people off.
    3. I might not know anything about this category, but it seems like you have the opportunity for some "us versus them" positioning. Explicitly call out what features you have that competitors don't in an easy to digest format.
    1. 1

Nice feedback, I changed the CTA to be less aggressive.

I need to up my marketing wording game, adding something like "save x4 more time using our form-builder..."

  12. 2

Looks much better than the first 3 iterations of my product 😁

    Great job.

The blurry fixed nav bar was confusing at first. Just an impression, but you asked. :)

From a SEO perspective, it might be worth adding a bit more meat. If you feel it would distract from the slick images, consider a FAQ section like we did at https://wideangle.co

Also, as you are building forms that capture potentially personal information, it will be difficult to use it without legal disclosure.

There is no privacy policy. There is no information WHO is behind the app.

    Good luck!

    1. 2

I had a lot of feedback about this blurry navbar. I think I'll revert it and make it fixed top, remove the blur (or make it very hard to notice, just a small detail).

Is FAQ great for SEO? If so, I'll add it at the end of the page (or maybe in a new page?)

Privacy policy & legal stuff soon, not officially released and haven't spent time yet on this. :)

      Thanks!

      1. 2

Is FAQ great for SEO? If so, I'll add it at the end of the page (or maybe in a new page?)

It does not have to be FAQ.

The point it is, you will benefit from more content on the landing page. If having more text clashes with your design, having FAQ hidden behind collapsable sections helps you HAVE content and still HIDE it, at least visually.

It is just one idea :)

      2. 1

Privacy policy & legal stuff soon, not officially released and haven't spent time yet on this.

You already collect email addresses. You need a privacy policy and FAST.

        1. 2

Good point, thanks for writing this, I haven't realised! :D

  13. 2

Hello, congratulations on starting your journey!

    1. Unclear value prop
    • At first glance, forms without code is confusing. Isn't that how Google Forms / Typeform and many other providers work?
    • It's on the last section of your landing page that I understood that you meant integrating forms to a website without code is the key value proposition!
-- It's very important to position yourself well: you aren't yet-another-form-builder, you are a no-code/low-code provider for integrating forms into a website. This will help bring in the right types of users and not the ones looking for typeform type forms.
    1. Really great job defining the 3 key value proposition of the product. Perhaps customers might have branding concerns - something to check.
    2. Consider adding some information on the pain you solve - like why do I need to build with you instead of directly coding it? Perhaps a before / after => It's helpful to remind customers of their pain points and how you would swoop in be the hero. It could be save X hours of time or something that you identify from talking to customers.

Does this seem reasonable to you?

    1. 1

Thanks for this feedback, helps a lot!

I'll make it clear that the intended use of Useform is to create easily embeddable forms into any website (unlike Google Forms/Typeform).

Adding something like "save 4x more time than building traditional forms" will leverage more pain points, I need to up my marketing wording skills! :)

    2. 1

I agree with your 2nd point you have highlighted a good point!

  14. 2

Hey, overall the page is great. I would change that blurry nav bar because it feels a bit strange, and I would also add a CTA at the bottom of the page when the user finishes scrolling.

    1. 1

Hey, I'm gonna revert the navbar into a sticky/fixed top-bar with a slight blurred background.

CTA at the end of page soon deployed! :)

  15. 1

    Great looking page!

    • I would agree with some of the comments here: what differentiates your tool?

    • I find the section "Your first form in minutes" a lot more impactful than the one you have at the top of your page. Maybe consider using it as your first section to introduce your call to action?

    • "Trusted & used by agencies and companies": I wouldn't claim that without showing numbers, testimonials or examples of organisations currently using the product

  16. 1

I love it! Two small comments.

    1. AFAIK there are similar tools available. Point out what makes yours better/unique.

    2. That logo looks similar to something I've seen in the past. I thinks it can be improved.

  17. 1

Everything looks really nice from the design standpoint.

One thing that kinda sticks out is that you still haven't launched (as suggested by your CTA), but when you scroll through the page you have "Trusted & used by agencies and companies" section, which is kinda weird tbh, because it doesn't make sense that you are trusted by anyone if you still haven't launched.

Also, numbers given in the same section seems super arbitrary, I'd like to see some proof on how exactly I'd save 8hrs, and compared to what other solution. Same for development cost savings - I'm saving compared to what?

As for the integrations part, I also find hard to believe that you have 5k integrations ready or even necessary. I'd just put the ones I really have / want to have.

Hope this helps, and I wish you all the best!

What’s the Twitter have a few questions I’d love to ask.

    1. 1

There’s no company Twitter, but hit me up at @totominc :)

      1. 1

        Sent you a message bro

  19. 1

great landing page has been created...

If possible add a video in this.

  20. 1

what are the benefits of using Next.js with TailwindCSS, deployed in Vercel for your landing page as opposed to using a no-code platform like webflow, etc?

    1. 1

I’ve been a front-end developer professionally for years, and this is the stack I feel comfortable working with the last few years. This stack allows me to move faster while ensuring great code quality. I’ve never created a website using a no-code tool like Webflow, but already used no-code tools for some parts of websites I’ve done.

  21. 1

Look great. I'd add images of how the form-website looks. I see you have posted images of the platform itself but not of the end website the customer gets.

  22. 1

the design is lovely. what platform did you use?

    1. 1

I used Next.js with TailwindCSS, deployed in Vercel

      1. 1

you don't sound like a beginner to me haha

        1. 1

Thanks a lot, I’m a beginner in the indie hacking thing! But I’ve been working professionally as a front-end developer for years :)

  23. 1

Probably you could also use some images or animations to bring more life to the page to keep the reader more engaged.

  24. 1

Great Totominc , i would love to see a bit of animation on scrolling !

  25. 1

    Cool page
    here some my view :
The hero section is visually appealing with a clear headline, subheadline, and a call-to-action button. However, it could benefit from a brief one-liner or tagline that describes the main benefit of your product to better convey what it does and how it can help the user.

The "How It Works" section is good, but including screenshots or images that illustrate the steps involved in using your product would make it even more helpful.

Although the pricing section is clear and easy to understand, adding a comparison table or chart that highlights the differences between the different plans would make it more helpful.

By the way, incorporating social proof, such as customer testimonials or logos of companies that use your product, would build trust and credibility with potential customers.

Overall, your landing page is well-designed, but to improve clarity and showcase the benefits of your product more effectively, consider adding a tagline, providing more context for the animated GIF, using bullet points or bolding in the "Why Form" section, including screenshots in the "How It Works" section, adding a comparison table or chart in the pricing section, and incorporating social proof.

  26. 1

    Nice page!

    Here's my feedback:

The hero section looks good with a clear headline, subheadline, and a call-to-action button. However, it's not immediately clear what your product does or how it can help the user. Consider adding a brief one-liner or tagline that describes the main benefit of your product.

The section with the animated GIF is eye-catching, but it would be more effective if you added some context or explanation about the features of your product that the animation is showcasing.

The "Why Form" section is a good attempt at explaining the benefits of your product, but the text could be made more concise and impactful. Consider highlighting the key benefits in bullet points or bolding the most important parts of the text to make it easier to skim and digest.

The "How It Works" section is good, but it would be even more helpful if you could add some screenshots or images that illustrate the steps involved in using your product.

The pricing section is clear and easy to understand, but it would be helpful to add a comparison table or chart that highlights the differences between the different plans.

Finally, I would suggest adding some social proof, such as customer testimonials or logos of companies that use your product, to build trust and credibility with potential customers.

Overall, your landing page looks good, but there's room for improvement in terms of clarity and adding more visual elements to showcase the benefits of your product.

  27. 1

Looks good, the market will give you the reason, watch this video it might help you:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlxmyHI1V8o

  28. 1

looks nice, one thing the page doesn't mention is target audience, it would be more useful if the page adjust the copy to talk to a more narrowed down audience, users like to feel that the product is talking to them

  29. 1

Hi there! It's great to hear that you're working on a new SaaS and looking for feedback on your landing page. It takes a lot of courage to put your work out there for others to scrutinize, so kudos to you for seeking feedback from the indiehacker community.

Firstly, it would be helpful if you could provide a link to your landing page so we can take a look at it and provide specific feedback. Without seeing your page, it's difficult to give you targeted advice.

However, in general, there are a few things you should keep in mind when creating a landing page:

Keep it simple: Your landing page should be easy to navigate and understand. Avoid using too many flashy graphics or complicated layouts that may distract visitors from the core message of your SaaS.

Focus on the benefits: Make sure you highlight the benefits of your SaaS, not just its features. People want to know how your product can help them solve their problems or achieve their goals.

Include social proof: Adding testimonials, reviews, or case studies can help build trust with potential customers and increase conversions.

Have a clear call-to-action: Make it easy for visitors to take action by including a clear call-to-action (CTA) button. Whether it's signing up for a free trial or making a purchase, the CTA should be prominently displayed and easy to find.

Overall, remember that your landing page is your first impression to potential customers. Make it count by focusing on the key benefits of your SaaS and making it easy for visitors to take action. Good luck with your project!

  30. 1

I think a short video (<30s) or animated GIF can help to show how "fast" and easy/seamless it is, especially if it drop-and-play for non-coders. I think that also helps for those that don't know much about the pain-points in the category.

  31. 1

looks very clean, I like it

  32. 1

i love the cleaness of the design. very smooth gradient background as well. 👍

I know few people already mentioned this and I wanted to second it.

It would be better if you put CTA at the end as well.
It will make persuaded user to engage more to your product.

    Other than that, good job!

    1. 1

Thanks for the feedback, I'll work on a CTA at the end of page :)

  33. 1

Clean, well written, easy to understand. LOVED the confetti splash and "you're in" after entering email. Lovely.

    1. 1

Thanks a lot, rewarding users for subscribing haha :)

  34. 1

It looks very good. I would suggest making the last block in gif format, with different cases - this will add interactivity.

    1. 1

Yes I'm planning to add some interactivity with the features section :)

  35. 1

Hey! I like how the site looks. The only thing that's confusing is the fixed menu at the top. It looks strange. I think it either needs to be filled in (features, faq, contact...) or removed.

    1. 1

Thanks for the feedback, my navbar is very controversial :D

I'll make it fixed to the top with a very small blur effect, and add some links on it too.

  36. 1

Congratulations and best of luck with your work I have also added myself to test your product!

No doubt no code I making our life easier and more helpful for non-technical persons!

    1. 1

      Thanks, I hope you'll like it! :)

  37. 1

Consider adding a CTA after your features section.

Also add a FAQ section then a CTA

    1. 2

Thanks, will do, a lot of people wrote this after you! :)
