I just shipped Xpiry (https://xpiry.dev), a focused tool that watches your SSL certificates and domain registrations and pings you before anything expires.

Why I built it

Every developer I know has a story about an expired SSL cert taking down a site at the worst possible time - usually on a Friday night, usually noticed by a client before they noticed it themselves. Domain renewals are even scarier: miss one and you can lose the name entirely.

The existing options always frustrated me. Either they were giant observability suites (Datadog, UptimeRobot, etc.) where expiry monitoring was an afterthought buried under 50 other features, or they were enterprise tools charging enterprise prices for what should be a 30-second check. I wanted something focused. Point it at a domain. Get an alert before things break. Done.

What it does

- Monitors SSL certificate expiry, chain validity, and SANs

- Tracks domain registration expiry (RDAP + WHOIS)

- Alerts via email, Slack, and webhooks

- Configurable alert thresholds (30 days, 14 days, 7 days, 1 day…)

- Free tier with 1 domain — no credit card

2. What's your worst SSL/domain expiry horror story? I want to make sure Xpiry would have caught it.

3. Any feature you'd want from a tool like this that you've never seen elsewhere?
