Instacart integration is live

Been building useLadle for a few months now, mostly solo. It's a meal planning app with a grocery list built in, the idea being you plan your week and your  shopping list just appears from that.

A few days ago I shipped the Instacart integration. The basic idea is simple: you've already got a structured grocery list from your meal plan, so sending it to Instacart for delivery should be one tap. And it is.

Honestly the integration process was pretty smooth. There's a partner API and an approval process but nothing crazy. The one thing that caused a delay was embarrassingly simple. I hadn't styled the Instacart button according to their brand guidelines. Fixed that and it moved right along.

The integration made me very happy I had previously decided to clean up how the shopping list aggregates ingredients from your meal plan. Quantities, units, ingredient names. If the list is a mess the Instacart experience would not work.

Android is live now. iOS is back in for review. Instacart shows up as a button in the shopping list once you've got a plan built.

Wrote a bit more about how it works here if you're curious.
