I have not and honestly look down on people who do that, just to gain fake sense of following "so that others will follow". To be honest, in one of my services we pride ourselves with the fact we haven't, that we even tell that to your clients (literally, that opposed to competition, we don't buy followers, so our audience is real humans, not spam accounts).
Once a friend of mine played me and for a couple bucks bought likes for one of my tracks on soundcloud. You could immediately tell it was fake, because the others had so little, and this one had so many.
I suggest NOT doing it, I used to work at a company that offered these types of services (I was Creative Lead for the main sites, I joined in a different part of the company first and then later was brought into the second secret to me half which offered these services, then I started looking for a way out). How all these sites work is that you pay them and then they hire 3rd party companies to "fulfil" the order, how they get their accounts is beyond what I know though.
I was not fully privy to the whole process behind the scenes, I was told it was legit and legal. From what I could see though it didn't really benefit the end user. It was mostly a "social proof" solution, it implied that you had a lot of followers, likes, etc. but beyond that I don't think it really did much for people.
All this talk about it swaying elections and stuff is BS from my perspective, people are giving these types of services more credit than they deserve on providing real influence. IMO
As others have said, do the work and just gain real interactions and followers, you'll be much happier and get more benefit.

That's a bit of a loaded question as I have no idea what you are doing with your accounts. Is it personal profiles or for a startup/business? What type of business, etc. etc. I have no idea what your accounts relate to so it's hard to give advice.

Yes, I did. Nothing to be scared about, really. All the new followers seem to be "alive" and no spamming problems. It really depends on the service you use. If ask me, I asked them for help: https://zen-promo.com/follow_bot_instagram and there were no problems.
They want my Instagram password as well. If I give them my password, won't the use to to follow other people without my knowelge.

However, buying likes/followers could be useful if done correctly.
For example, at the very beginning of growing an account, it would be a good idea to boost the number of likes/followers to provide yourseld with social proof and get the ball rolling.
I disagree. I've seen a bunch of accounts with obviously fake followers. What value does that bring? Unless you assume you're clients a dumb - which I don't.
I think you are assuming too much, too early on. We have no clue if he is doing this for clients, which it doesn't seem like it.
I agree with Juan though, I believe that when growing an account it is very helpful to get a burst of likes to throw visibility at his account.
I do agree with you that you can spot fake likes from miles away, which is why Juan is correct - in moderation it wont hurt.
Does it really add visibility to the account? I suppose this depends on the site/social network. But I'm not sure it does add visibility, unless you got millions, at which point - as we agree - it'd be visible from far away. Not trying to prove anything, genuinely curious.
I get your point! generally speaking, there's no value. What I tried to say was that in some cases you could leverage even fake likes/followers if you do it wisely.
