Instead of looking for partner, offer your skills in exchange for others' skills

I have been bartering my skills for many years. For example, my startup got a UI design in exchange for my business advice. Starting up a group here:

Please, join to get feedback, help with your project and friendly advice in exchange for your feedback and skills. Lets start bartering our skills to support each other's projects. Post here your needs and your offer you are kindly giving away.

Sounds cool, I often undervalue my own skills but perhaps I can help someone else.

      I'm just like you.

Sometimes I even forget about my skills because I do not use them anymore. Like article writing.

This is a much better idea than posting the need for generic job titles - it's all about the skills, baby!

I have no tech skills whatsoever, but can build businesses and sell ideas. I spent 20 years in the military developing, delivering and teaching strategy and have built 2 successful startups. I'm sure I can help someone out there....

Interesting. How do you make sure the value is roughly equivalent?

My key position: I would do it for free, would do it anyway, just to help, aspecialy when I like the project or idea. This way you do not get upset and enjoy the prosess.

Great suggestion, you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours

    Great initiative!

This is a great idea. Nice work

The act of helping others first in exchange for a service you can provide is how you add value to the world.

It works super well for some cases (I saw some feedback for feedback - love it because there is an incentive to put effort into that feedback, you will recieve that effort back).

However, when you are building, focus is key. So I am not fully sure if skill exchange and projects are helping or distracting. But curious to hear different perspectives and see real life examples :) Great effort!

that's undervalued in my opinion, that's also a chance to meet other people and know new fields

Great idea, I just joined. I met my co-founder by doing dev work for him, so hopefully folks will have a similar experience in the group.
