Interesting question for Courtland!

Hey @csallen I've got a question that I haven't heard anyone really ask you. Quite curious.

Without being political - In hindsight would you still sell Indiehackers knowing what you know now and given how much growth it has had?

If you answer, Thanks. Curious to your thoughts behind it.

Totally. For a multitude of reasons, both IH and I myself are much better off at Stripe than we would've been flying solo. Of course with the magical benefit of knowing the future, I'm sure I might've negotiated slightly differently, etc. But I definitely still would've sold.

Any thoughts on doing an AMA?

The Indie Hackers forum feels like a permanently-open AMA for me! :-D

But yeah, it would be a good idea to do a dedicated one. (Wouldn't answer any specific questions about the Stripe acquisition terms though.)

I'm curious if you don't mind my asking: does the contract explicitly say you can't? And if so, what's the purpose of that? So other potential acquisitions have one fewer data point to negotiate with?

Obviously, finances and your company are personal, so you also don't have to explain staying private, at least not to Internet People.

Good answer, thanks for that. Now a follow-up:

      What'd you sell for?

      .
      haha, only kidding.
