Is it a good idea to let a intern or a newbie who is building his/her profile do the digital marketing and growth?
I am just releasing MVP of my product read15minsaday.com. I am thinking about letting someone do the marketing and growth of this product, who is new with these subjects and are aiming to build up a portfolio/references.
Do you think is that a good idea?
If not, what can I do to find the first users of a product that is aiming to be used individually but with a community?
Without knowing that one, no one will be able to tell you that. We had a trainee who wanted to learn more about this topic, but for 4 weeks it was all too much for her and she was quite overwhelmed by the topic and quit.
Everybody starts somewhere and if they don't get a chance, you never know how good they are or can be.
But you definitely can't assume that they won't make any mistakes. They will definitely be there. :-)
In addition, how important is the product to you? How do you handle it when he makes mistakes? What happens if he makes an expensive failure?
Yeah I see your point.
Great chance for that person to find out about this topic and gain some experience.
Any advice on staying away from expensive failures as much as possible?
The only thing I can think of is setting goals, then a time window and a money limit. Then you decide when there are reports. For example once a week.
That might be a little bit to prevent a lot of things. :-)
Experience matters in knowing what to test first for a given domain and to come up with different ideas for growth that might not be obvious.
What are their strategies for growth? Whatβs your budget?
I absolutely see your point about the experience.
With a newbie, I might start trying different methods and see the reaction. This way, I can evaluate those methods, I learn and the newbie learns as well.
My budget is somewhere between very little and none :) I want to experiment first, once I see some reaction, I could invest more.
