I’m a product designer, and over the years I noticed people around me would often complain that a font was too small or that some text was hard to read because it didn’t have enough contrast with the background. Then more recently I realised my own eyes weren’t as sharp as they used to be either.
That got me curious about the often “uncool” topic in design and dev circles: Accessibility. The more I explored, the more I realised how much of the web isn’t truly accessible, it doesn’t have to be this way. Making a site accessible doesn’t mean compromising on a brand’s colours or massive amounts of extra development work. It’s not that hard to make a site accessible, I think It’s mostly just a lack of awareness that’s caused so much of the web to not be very accessible. So I decided to do something about it. The result is A11y Pulse
— a tool that scans your website, identifies accessibility issues, and helps you fix them.Making your site accessible shouldn’t be hard work. Let’s make the web enjoyable for everyone.
