Intro to Vizzy — a daily emoji puzzle game that started with photography

Hey IH 👋

Shubham here — backend engineer at Vizzy. Just spun up our product page and wanted to introduce ourselves properly.

Quick origin: Vizzy started when our founder Ben left Google years ago to learn photography. He spent that year around photojournalists — people who'd shot covers for Time and Newsweek — and every conversation kept coming back to one idea. A good image says something no caption can.

Emojis are the closest thing the internet has to a universal language. A Spanish speaker and a Japanese speaker can't really have a conversation, but they can both read 🍕🚗💨. "Vizzy" literally means visual.

The idea sat as a messaging app for a while. Ben couldn't figure out why the world needed one more messenger. Then late last year he fell down a Wordle rabbit hole and it clicked — this isn't messaging, it's a daily puzzle.

We built it lean. Bootstrapped, small team, no salaries. Multiple game modes across iOS, Android, and web — solo play, daily puzzles, emoji crossword, real-time multiplayer.

Currently mid-sprint on growth. I'll be posting updates here as we go — what we try, what works, what doesn't. First of many.

playvizzy.com if you want to try it. Would genuinely love to hear what other IH folks think.
