Introducing Graf-ID: A Local-First Developer Context Recovery Tool

We've all been there.

You come back to a project after a few days, weeks, or even months away and spend more time figuring out where you left off than actually coding.

After running into this problem repeatedly while working on multiple projects, I decided to build Graf-ID.

Graf-ID is a local-first desktop application that helps developers restore project context by analyzing project documentation, notes, and metadata.

For example my Project:

Current features include:

  • Where You Left Off

  • Project Snapshot

  • End Session Notes

  • Project History

  • Import / Export support -> This feature also allows me to carry project context between Graf-ID and other tools I'm building.

The goal is simple:

Spend less time remembering and more time building.

Also i give it a little extra : End session, when you exit the IDE Graf-ID pops up and ask you what has been changed and this extra little document will help you next time:

end sess

I'd love to hear how other developers handle project continuity after long breaks.

A short demo video is available on my Contra portfolio page.
