Introducing Prism! Make your bookmarks visual.

Hi everyone, I'm new to IH and I wanted to share what I'm working on with this community. I'd love to get your feedback, and I'm also on the hunt for a technical partner, so want to put that out there if you or someone you know might like to chat!

So what is the product? It's Prism (www.tryprism.co). Prism is a visual bookmarking platform that uses screenshots to let you quickly browse all your bookmarks without opening a single new tab. As a designer and user of the internet, I realized I wanted to bookmark and reference sites for work and personal interests, but bookmark lists were too hard to read, and PInterest (though I love it) didn't let me reference the site itself, just a single image. So I designed Prism and partnered with a dev studio to build the MVP.

When you sign up, you can also view my profile and check out what I've bookmarked so far. I've created a board for Female-Friendly VCs as well as startup resources I like. So check those out if you're interested!

Would love to know what you think of the product and if you have any advice or tips for fundraising around it. Thanks!

    (1) Installing a browser extension seems like a high hurdle, especially with the casual shopping examples you show. Could the browser extension be for expert users and regular users would just type the names of websites that you would autocomplete, or they could just paste URLs?

    (2) When I saw "discover what other people have bookmarked" my thought was that people would usually have a set of sites that they think are share-worthy and others they want to keep private. Perhaps you offer the choice, but the description on the landing page makes it sound like it's all public.

Thanks for the feedback @MichaelKatz! The browser extension is not required to use Prism, you can add bookmarks manually by copy and pasting links to your board using the + button. But the extension does make it lot easier to use, and we prompt you to install it when you sign up. About half of our signups have installed the extension. I'm not quite sure how to get around having an extension, as so many social sites have them. I think people are getting more used to using them, but again, it's not a requirement.

I think your comments on the language on the homepage are fair and good points! You do have the option today to set your board to private so no one else can see it, so I should add that. Thanks!

    Love it!

By any chance would you be able to disclose the amount paid for the MVP?

Btw I created a test account, couldn't find a way to delete it thought

Hi @OscarRyz, thanks for signing up! I'd be happy to chat with you about the MVP if you'd like. Feel free to email me. :)

If you'd like to delete your account just email a request to [email protected]. That was one of the (many) features that we ended up running out of budget to build in the MVP. So manual it is for now!
