Introducing Smol Launch: A weekly launchpad for your weekend projects

Hey Indie Hackers! 👋

I’m currently setting up the page for my new project, Smol Launch, right here on IH, and I wanted to share a bit about the "why" behind it, who it's for, and where it's going.

Why I built this

We all know the feeling: you finish building a cool little side project, but the thought of doing a "Big Launch" on the major platforms feels overwhelming. You worry about algorithms, hunting down the perfect time to post, designing glossy graphics, and coordinating upvotes. Sometimes, the friction of the launch prevents makers from launching at all.

I built Smol Launch because I wanted to remove that friction. It’s meant to be a low-stress, weekly product launch website specifically for makers. A place where you can ship your project, get some eyeballs on it, and celebrate the milestone without the anxiety of competing against VC-backed startups.

Who is it for?

This is built specifically for the indie community:

  • Weekend Builders: You spun up a cool tool in 48 hours and just want to share it.

  • First-time Makers: You want a friendly, low-stakes environment to practice shipping.

  • Serial Shippers: You build a lot of small utilities and need a dedicated place to showcase them without exhausting your audience.

If your product is "smol," weird, niche, or just a fun experiment, this is the place for it.

What's next?

We officially launched back in January, and seeing the community start to form around these weekend projects has been incredible. Now that the foundation is set, here is what I am focusing on:

  • Growing the Maker Community: The main goal right now is getting more Indie Hackers to use Smol Launch as their default playground for shipping. I want to build a thriving ecosystem where makers consistently support and discover each other's early-stage work.

  • Improving the Core Product: I am actively taking feedback from our early adopters to polish the platform, make the submission flow even smoother, and build out features that highlight qualitative feedback over simple upvote counts.

  • A New Launch Submission Service: Launching is exhausting, and I know how tedious it is to manually submit your product to 100+ directories. I am currently working on a launch submission service designed to streamline that distribution process, so you can spend less time filling out forms and more time building.

I’d love for you to check it out at smollaunch.com. If you have a side project sitting in your GitHub graveyard or a tiny tool you use every day, consider launching it with us!
