Introducing Underleaf: AI-powered LaTeX & writing assistant for academics

Hi everyone! I'm excited to introduce Underleaf here on Indie Hackers. :)

Underleaf tackles one of the most tedious parts of academic writing that I experienced throughout university: turning messy handwritten math notes, photos, or PDFs into clean, usable LaTeX code. What used to take ages to type out by hand now happens in seconds.

We're currently used by tens of thousands of academics across universities worldwide. Looking forward to sharing more of the journey here and would love any feedback or questions from this community!

You can check us out at underleaf.ai.

How do you currently handle your analytics and would you mind reading my indiehacker pots on how crawlers and bots are ruining analytics data?

Tens of thousands of academic users is meaningful traction.

At this point, what’s the hardest product or growth decision the usage data still isn’t giving you a clear answer to?

The handwritten notes and PDF to LaTeX part is the bit that grabbed me. That's one of those annoying jobs every researcher just accepts until something finally fixes it.

It honestly feels like Underleaf could be getting a lot more organic traffic than it probably is right now. With tens of thousands of academics already using it that seems especially worth paying attention to.

Have you ever looked at it that way or is that just the impression I got?
