At what stage do you start to think about IP/trademark protection?
Do you find market fit first with the risk that some can take your idea or do you invest the $ thousands early to protect before validating the idea?
Is IP protection even possible any more?
Trade Mark protection as soon as possible! Don't risk a competitor seeing your brand name and trade marking it before you, forcing you to re-brand.
Patents - a bit more complicated! Ideally you want to file a patent application as soon as you are reasonably confident you wont be significantly changing the design/features of what you want to protect, because you can't add to a patent application once it's been filed.
If you file too early - chance you'll miss features out and not protect them. File too late - chance someone will come up with the same idea or something very similar before you file an application.
Good question, wondering about this myself and searching through IH to find some answers.
