This story is about Iris ten Teije. Iris is a co-founder of the customer support platform Mava.

  • Launched 2022
  • First 100 users after 5 months
  • Currently 5,000 accounts (a mix of free and paid)

While Iris initially intended to create a fintech startup, her path shifted, leading to Mava: a customer support platform tailored for community-driven companies.

Mava connects to community channels like Discord and Telegram, alongside traditional channels like web chat and email, enabling companies to scale support across private and public conversations. Currently, her team of six is focused on adding group support features for Slack Connect.

Two years into development, Mava launched its MVP quickly to gather user feedback. Though they delayed monetization initially, they soon transitioned to a freemium model.

Today, Mava boasts 5,000 accounts and continues to grow through product-led growth (PLG) and SEO. Their branded bots on Discord, Telegram, and web chat help attract new users organically.

To enhance outreach, Iris combines automated and manual LinkedIn and Discord messaging, often leveraging notable web3 clients.
