Ironically needing support for my support community site
Hi IndieHackers,
Looking to get some wisdom and tips from everyone here on starting a community, which in general tends to suffer a bit from a cold start. Research suggests getting a small group of users in any unscalable way within the niche to seed the community and grow it organically from there.
Unfortunately I've decided to pick a problematic area which is not something of a niche (community summary below) so it does appear a bit hard to locate a focused group of users.
The community is basically an app for people to share their frustrations from work by using only their job title and country. It does seem like an activity people already partake in around the web and the venting frustration + support from others was something I was hoping to create a specialised space for.
I won't go into grander future plans for now as I'd like to crack this core activity and validate this before going further. Avenues I've tried without much traction:
- Friends
- Forums
- HackerNews
Would you all think this might be a bit of critical mass issue to get it going or does the idea require further validation or perhaps is a case of poor implementation? Would love any feedback / suggestions / ideas, thanks in advance!
