Is a landing page that serves as a single long-form guide a strategy that will work to attract high traffic?

This would be the main guide that people come to the site to read, or recommend to others. There would then be a link to join newsletter & join community (slack) in the header.

If yes, could you recommend any landing page theme or product that would be easy for me to get the first draft live quickly? I've purchased the .com already but have no hosting yet.
