Is anyone leveraging layoffs lists for outreach?

My partner and I recently wanted to start helping engineers recently a part of layoffs from the big tech companies. I wanted to create a genuine and easy to understand call to action - in my case helping someone create a better portfolio, doing a 1:1 help session, then helping them get the word out.

It does seem somewhat harsh during a time when they might still be grappling with what happened, but sometimes its great to just pull yourself up and over the hurdle in front of you and move through it.

My thinking is that if someone had reached out, especially as a co-founder, to INDIVIDUALLY help me out I would probably take them up on it. I think that these folks must be getting inundated with recruiters and spam so I am not sure it is going to work but I wanted to see if others have tried this tactic and what they did to stand out from all the noise.
