Lots of people used to think that the idea of 'using Twitter to grow their business' seemed farfetched, and over time it became fairly common. Now I find myself thinking the same thing about TikTok - like surely the only people growing their businesses on there are consumer brands selling physical items, influencers, probably crypto grifters?
I'm sure I'm actually wrong in thinking that, but I have no idea where anyone would start, especially with B2B SaaS. Does anyone have first hand experience, or know of interesting examples of people using TikTok to market a software business?
I grew an audience to 25k and an email list to 3k mostly through TikTok. I did sell a product that I built especially for that young audience, which was a book on how to teach yourself to code with practical advice.
I have seen a number of SaaS apps really fail to market themselves there. Maybe just because it's not interesting or valuable to their audiences in a video format. I have seen some indie products go completely viral and even indie games too.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that "your mileage may vary". You never know until you try.
That's a good one, I heard the trick is to apply the current trends into your niche - when possible -.

You can, but then you'll feel like an uncreative sellout. It burned me out personally from creating by "chasing the trends".
Oh, sorry to hear that. I thought it would be more creative than tweeting a million dollar formula in three steps. As I failed to grow on twitter, I was in search for another place to fail.
They are about the same. It doesn’t feel fulfilling to get followers from trends or deceit. Just provide value and you’ll grow slowly.
"Just provide value and you’ll grow slowly." - something that most people forget and want to grow exponentially in short-term
I like this. Slow growth is not a bad thing, but people tend to be impatient. I've launched 5 startups/projects so far, and have barely made much revenue YET. But, I've received tons of feedback, gathered new ideas after the creation and have fresh new ideas with in-the-field experience and gathered data to work on and improve the existing startups. Slowly the user base is growing, and people are seeing the value and sharing slowly.
I'm not making too much money of it yet, and I'm not where I am yet, but I trust the progress of slow and steady growth.

Try EVERYTHING. Tiktok, FB, IG, Twitter, Snap, Wechat, freaking Tinder if it works for you. Some businesses still make a positive ROI on billboards alone. Some via yellow pages ads.
Haha, well yeah, in a way I feel like my question could apply to any social network - but particularly ones that rely heavily on video! Funnily enough I was talking to someone the other day who said their friend used Tinder to sell the company she was working for to people - like she'd go on dates and then pitch it to them and try and get them to sign up 😂
Lol! Yep. There’s a ton of people who made a lot of money selling via Tinder. Not the way you described, but still, fish where the fish at, right?
If product is mobile focused and things can be managed from mobile phones then tiktok ads can work for such product.
I think if you aim for influencers that have some clout in your niche it could be useful
O haven't used ot myself, bit someone linked to a project that I already sold and it was crazy.
I had traffic every day from it. Amd the first day featured wete more than 2k visits...
I'd like to hear as well.
Wow I was searching for a recent discussion here on google. Found this;

And the post I was looking: 17k Signups in one year just uploading TikTok videos 🤯
Nice, thanks @Rusted - I hadn't even thought to search for indiehackers as a tag on TikTok, seems to be one guy that's pretty prolific in using it haha
One thing to note is that TikTok works on a local audience, and you cannot change that (unless you use VPN). That means if you're in Belgium like me, your video's will be shown to a few Belgians, mainly Germans, some French, ... . It's really terrible when you're going for a US audience :(.
Even VPN doesn't give you a full workaround, because to my understanding, tiktok takes into account your SIM card as well. The best workaround I read is to use VPN + a virtual US phone.
But, in my experience, it doesn't ONLY show your content to people in your country. It focuses on them mostly, but it's possible to get in front of US audience once in a while.
Interesting, I didn't know that! Thanks :)
