Is anyone working in the travel industry space?

After a successful exit from our last startup, my partner and I are exploring what we want to do next. We are still in the ideation phase and are looking at a few different industries. One of them is in the travel industry, specifically around cruises, and even more specifically around making it easier to book your own excursions in each port.

Are there any hackers who have a cruise booking site? Or any type of travel booking site? Or just any experience in the travel industry?

Some interest things we've found so far:
9,386 travel agency firms operating 15,671 retail locations
30,000 Independent Advisors that typically sell travel from home.
90% of people who go on a 1st cruise end up booking another cruise.

I have a website I made ( using a white label of an affiliate program ) and I haven't been active in the promotional of it as I would like to have my own robust software to really make it a thing. I would say, travel is a huge industry as you already know and cruises are made to seem only rich folks do. I'm imaging how great would it be if there was a site that lets the public book their own cruises easily from whichever place they are at and make it seamless.

I think you are right on the image of cruises. It seemed like a rich folks type of thing to me too until I went on my first cruise about 15 years ago. Maybe if our site/marketing helped explain that cruising is actually a very cost efficient, low stress, and yet culturally eye-opening way to vacation, we could bring a lot "never-cruised-before" people in, and turn them into cruise-aholics. ;)

        Sounds like a plan! :D
