Is blogging dead?

I am planning to start a coding blog. But I'm worried if blogs are and will still be relevant in 2022/23? Need your suggestions.

Thanks

I run Bear Blog and I can say with full certainty that blogging isn't dead. Blogs are a place where people can write publicly and share knowledge in an in-depth way that is not attainable with any other form of social media.

It's a great way to do many things:

    • Boost your own authority - If you go into a job interview and the interviewer sees you write about technical topics, that is a massive boost to your experience credibility.
    • Writing is thinking - If you can write articulately, there's a good chance you think coherently.
    • Writing makes you a better speaker - Once you've put something down on paper it becomes a lot more easy to articulate in the future.
    • All successful software brands (bar, maybe, big tech) blog regularly as a way of finding and helping customers.

    That's my 2 cents :) I hope it helped.

I agree with all of those points, just wanted to add one more - blogging allows you to stand out in a highly competitive environment such as software engineering.

Absolutely. Blogging is a great way to build that authority.

The answer is NO! 77% of Internet users read blogs. All we have to do is create a blog with more relevant information.

The ever-changing landscape of the internet has led to many questions about the future of blogging. With the rise of social media platforms, some have proclaimed that blogging is no longer a relevant form of online expression. However, others argue that blogging is more important than ever as a way to share thoughtful, in-depth content.
So, what is the future of blogging? It's difficult to say for certain. However, as long as there are people who are passionate about sharing their thoughts and ideas online, it seems likely that blogging will continue to be a vital part of the internet.

No! blogging is still relevant in 2022.. 53% of the marketer rely on blogs for their content marketing strategy and also it is said that 409 million internet users read 20 billion blogs monthly.

I still read blogs. However I don't subscribe to blog posts - usually I find them through a google search for something.

I started blogging in the coding niche last year, it is definitely not dead. I went from 0 to 1000 users a week on my site without much effort. I say go for it, worst case is you have your ideas and information in a centralised place you can visit.

Content creation in the form of blog posts are the cheat code to building a community. It's certainly not dead. In order to add value though you need to think of how you can present your information differently because the more value you add the more trust you gain

As a dev I go on medium like 10 times a day to check an answer / cool thing. Any content you produce in a niche is valuable imo and in something like coding there are still 100s of things that have not been talked about.

Also take into account how many new libraries/ frameworks get launched every month! You could be at the forefront of one of these and build your audience that way.

Blogs have never been more relevant imo. Everyone answers their questions by Googling it now days. Especially dev related questions! This is a great time to start a blog!

Definitely not! You can think of newsletters as blogs over email. I run a newsletter and I still keep a blog because it's important to have different outlets for different audiences.

It's not dead at all. It's highly relevant, but it has changed a lot from just a year ago.
It's all about winning those rich snippets and building helpful content that ranks for search phrases where the competition is low. If I could give you some advice, I would niche even more within the coding. Either choose a language or then a sector within the coding.

Blogging is not dead and stil highly relevant. What is definitely dead is low-quality blogging. If you don't put effort into it, nobody will read your posts.
