Hello! I started my first side project a few months ago. I created a blog where I share resources (Notion templates and article compilations) and information for independent entrepreneurs.
I'm frustrated, I'm struggling to get visitors to my blog. Since this is my first project, I don't know if this is common or if I'm doing something wrong.
With AIs, do you think SEO and blogging are going to die?
Should I pivot?
Wow, there already is great feedback. I mainly focus on sales journeys, so I can't really tell you about SEO or the impact of blogging itself. What I find is that interviewing your ideal customer profile (ICP) is super valuable. It generates content and you know how they searched for methods and help regarding the pain points you are trying to solve.
People already mentioned it, but I think this is crucial to point out again: Which specific challenge are you solving and how are you solving it differently to others.
Keep in mind that solopreneurs are NOT a clear ICP. They/we are different, except for the fact that they are all driven and know how to find great sources to help themselves (website or people or else).
Great!
Thanks.
Hey Lucas, I get your frustration and it's one that we all share, especially when it comes to new projects.
If you think of AI as a tool that can help you tackle those more mundane tasks, I wouldn't say that either SEO or blogging is going die.
Especially when you write for humans, rather than bots.
Which leads me to this question:
How are you bringing traffic to your site right now?
Are you relying purely on Google? Or are you actively networking and contributing to conversations in social media channels or groups where your audience hangs out?
I'm not coming at this from the angle of self-promotion, but pure value-bringing and generating interest through connecting with like-minded peers and entrepreneurs.
You already break up your text in clear sections, so that's great! Two things that can elevate your content and your website in general is, one, breaking the text by adding relevant graphics or images. This gives some resting spaces for the eye as you read along.
And, two, take note of who your 2-3 competitors are doing in this space (or close enough!) and how they approach their content and their websites. This is for 2 reasons:
And
So, before you think of making a pivot, remember that establishing your online presence takes time. What's important -- and the fuel that keeps you going -- (at least from my experience) is knowing why you're pursuing this and who you're speaking to. The rest is a whole lotta patience and the willingness to experiment.
Lastly, I highly recommend Backlinko for SEO know-how and CopyHackers for all things writing -- even if you have no intention of getting into copywriting, it can do wonders for your project.
When you focus on writing for a one person who embodies everything you know to be true for those people you want to attract, you release yourself from the SEO-weight that can bring you down.
Like @vintually mentioned, it takes time for Google to pick up on your site. And knowing you're competing with millions of blogs, when you focus your energy and attention on writing for the right person (and engaging with them in the right online spaces), SEO becomes one more tool you can use.
Hope some of this helps! And if it doesn't, discard it.
All the best of luck with Fintiux! :)
What's your blog? It'll be easier to form a perspective with a link :)
I don't think SEO will die until search engines themselves are dead so SEO can still help plus blogging gets you used to "talking" about your project and self which is important.
I made a Twitter post about blogging not being dead the other day:

Please note I broke the link on purpose so the embed wouldn't appear
To be honest I thought the same thing until I bought Adam Enfroy's Blogging Growth Engine accelerator.
I've learned a lot about content alignment, researching keywords, AI enhanced blogging, and how to form a linking strategy after getting base content going.
I don't think blogging or SEO is dead but as Adam talks about in the accelerator A LOT of the obvious keywords are taken so you'll need to do research into what keywords have room for new content.
BTW I use neuronwriter however my blog is really new (started in the last 2 weeks) so it'll take some time for google to pick it up plus according to the accelerator I'll need 20-30 pieces of content before google and people will care more (a blog with 5 articles is worse than a library with 5 books)
Hope this helps!
Thanks! I will keep working and impoving.
Thanks for your advice.
My website is https://fintiux.com/
I think you're doing a great job with the base blog from a top level view. The only thing I'd recommend are images and maybe more details to get your SEO score higher.
Additionally there's outbound links (which google does like) plus I think the content doesn't get specific enough. It's great for a top level overview but doesn't provide as much value as one would think when you get a deeper read going.
In my opinion:
Content Alignment is #1
Content Value is #2
Content SEO is #3
Content Sharing is #4
I think you have pretty good alignment however I can see areas where the value and SEO are lacking plus there's a lack of a vibe for the site which limits sharing potential (if you do "shallow" content [shorter more mainstream posts] I recommend more of a vibe if you go for a simpler website I recommend higher value content [longer and more details posts])
Hope this helps!
This is amazing feedback.
Thanks! I will work on this.
