Are people still doing digital nomad lifestyle the past couple of years? Is it worth all the hassle of dealing with testing, lockdowns, travel restrictions? I feel trapped in my country because of the unstable global situation
Yes! I have been travelling for 5 years now and 2 years during the covid.
We spent winter 2021 in Mexico and recently came back from Sri Lanka which you can visit too.
Also, check out Asian countries seem to open up for vaccinated travellers, I know that Bali is welcoming people again as well as Thailand.
Europe is actually also restriction-free - Poland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and some more dropped all the rules. So did the UK.
I travelled from the UK to Thailand in 2021, it was a lot of hassle and quite expensive but it was worth. Things are a lot better now but the rules change so often, travelling every 1-2 months will likely be a massive headache.
Things are progressively opening up and governments (in general but not all) will be less likely to lockdown than before because of economic reasons.
More like slowmad. I've been in the same place for 2 years but made the choice pre-covid to give it a go after being in a different place every 2 months for years.
I have friends who have come and gone through SEA for 6 months at a time.
Instead of traveling every month or every 2 or 3 months, now more are going for 5-6-9 months.
Is that short for "slowly-going-mad" or "slow-nomad" 😂? Seriously, are you enjoying the experience of staying in the same place for so long?
I am enjoying the experience of staying in the same place for this long. But considering when/if I can take a month just somewhere else.
