Is it always necessary to grow?

Great question Porush! I'd highly recommend reading this book by Paul Jarvis: https://www.amazon.com/Company-One-Staying-Small-Business-ebook/dp/B078962RHQ. He lays out the case for why you shouldn't grow for growth's sake and that it's important to define what your enough is.

No, it just depends on your goals. It helps to identify what sort of lifestyle you’re looking to lead. Once you know that, you can start to make decisions on the path you think will best get you to that level.

Here's where I think the Ferengi Rule of Acquisition #45 comes in handy: Expand or die.

Most SW products are different from, say, a coffee shop. SW products tend to address problems found in the global marketplace, so the sky's the limit. There are always new markets to address & new ways to improve your product.

And if you think you've satisfied your existing customers, think of this: existing customers are the people most likely to buy other stuff from you.

It's okay to grow and drop, you learn from the process and grow sustainably.

For me, I like the feeling of helping each other, open-source knowledge and mentoring the next gen of entrepreneurs.

Some people just want to grow to the point where they can sustain their lifestyle or hobby. And that's fine. There's no need to grow forever -- it's just that most people like having more money / success / fame!
